Money, Milk Bones, and Friendship

I'm recovering from vacation still, which pretty much entails being depressed that I am not ON vacation. This requires a lot of sighing and sorting through pictures of said vacation and thinking about how to go on vacation again soon. Which then brings up thoughts of how I should make some money because money is required for vacations and I have no money so then I think I should do more divorces, which means I should start breaking up some marriages, which is probably bad karma and seems like a lot of work anyway so then I just go back to bed. And that is my run-on sentence for today.

On a more coherent note, I am spending this late night hour drinking some tea while Peanut rests nearby in the living room. She has had her late night Milk Bone, which completes her evening so she can rest peacefully. I tried to go to bed, but it wasn't happening so I got up to have some tea and contemplate life.

The first thing that comes to mind when I contemplate my life is how terribly blessed I am. I have the most amazing friends who enrich my life. They always make me feel like I can conquer any problem and they always make me feel loved and appreciated. You cannot ask for more than that in this life - to be surrounded by people who are 100% there for you and will talk you down from the ledge when you need it and will give you wings to fly when you need it.

In my life, I have had several people with whom I've crossed paths that have been wonderful in many ways, but were not meant to be there forever. Now, I am blessed to have lifetime friends; people I know will forever be in my corner as I will be in theirs. We will not always agree about everything, but we will always help each other find our way on our individual paths.

Besties in Vegas

I am waiting to board my flight to Houston from Las Vegas. The past few days have gone so quickly and I was so very sad to leave my best friend, Britt, today. We met up in Vegas on Tuesday afternoon. I had been in the airport for several hours before she arrived so I did some internet research and found the cheapest way to get from the airport to her time share where we were staying was to take the bus. We did Vegas on a budget and still managed to have a wonderful time. One interesting thing though was that when we asked someone where to catch the bus, he looked at us like we were dirt, and said "You're taking the bus?" with disdain. "Yes, snobby airport guy, we're taking the bus. We are in a recession you know and not all of us have money to burn, even if this is Vegas."

Anyway, we got to our destination, which was Cancun Resort and was fantastic! It's like a little apartment. We took the shuttle from there to the strip and were dropped off at The Tropicana. We promptly visited the M&M store and the Coke store. Leave it to us to find the chocolate and soda place first off! We had a great time looking around those two places and we picked up some souvenirs. We then went in search of dinner and found that at a Chinese buffet not far down the strip. I had a big lunch earlier in the day courtesy of my new friend, Brandi, who works at the Hard Rock Cafe here. She was such a sweetheart and treated me to lunch while I was waiting for Britt's flight. So Britt had the buffet and she gave me a few bites here and there.

We then proceeded to walk the strip to various points, which we did on Wednesday and Thursday as well. We walked miles every day and our feet were on fire afterward. We got up in the morning and looked like creaky old ladies when we tried to walk to the kitchen. It was SO worth it though.

Wednesday found us at The Luxor having lunch at T&T and then viewing the Titanic exhibit, which we both enjoyed. It was amazing to see real artifacts from the ship and to read the stories of the passengers. We also saw an iceberg that was freezing to the touch. It represented how cold the water actually was when the ship sank. I cannot believe anyone survived in that water. We spent the rest of Wednesday evening browsing and shopping, ending at Caesar's Palace, where we watched the moving statues. We saw some of The Bellagio's water show, but that was a bit of a blur because we realized that we had to make it from The Bellagio to The Tropicana so we could catch the resort's shuttle before it stopped running for the evening at midnight. We booked it down the strip and made it with no problem, but we were exhausted.

Thursday was a busy day and we were up and on the strip fairly early. We did some souvenir shopping and then bought bus tickets that were good for 24 hours because there was no way we were going to walk as much as we had before. We still walked a great deal, but our feet were ready to fall off so we decided to mitigate the pain as much as possible. For $7 each, we were able to ride the bus up and down the strip. We hit The Mirage for Siegfried and Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat. That was AMAZING! We saw dolphins being trained and we saw a baby dolphin swimming with her mom and grandmother. Her dad was swimming in the pool on the side. It was really something to see those dolphins. They were so sweet and so friendly. We then saw several other animals including the white tigers and a lion.

Outback Steakhouse was next. Bloomin' Onion and salads made up lunch for us. We walked those off when we headed back to The Mirage to pick up a special gift Britt had made for her children. We then walked down the strip about a mile and grabbed a bus to Bonanza to shop for souvenirs. We headed to Planet Hollywood at 7:30 p.m. to see The Mentalist and of course, when he asked for volunteers, I just had to raise my hand. I had fun volunteering with several other people. His show was absolute amazing and worth seeing!

We had some spaghetti in one of Planet Hollywood's mall restaurants and then headed home. This morning found us packing and hanging out at the airport waiting to go home. I had SO SO SO much fun with my Britters! We talked, we laughed, we ate, we walked, and we loved it all! I can't wait to have another Besties girl trip with her. I highly recommend that everyone take a trip with their best friend. It's one of the "best" things you can do:)
