Psychology and Some Lovely Bones

Last week was very busy and the first half of this one was as well. It was all good stuff, but it kept me on the run. I started classes for the semester and that has me driving to Victoria again. It's a rough drive sometimes, but I have some audio books and I made a CD of music to listen to while driving. I also have The Lovely Bones unabridged version on CD. I can't wait to listen to it.

I drove to Victoria yesterday and am staying overnight here. It's actually nice sometimes to be in a hotel, away from home, because I can have some quiet, uninterrupted time to get things done that are harder to do at home with all the distractions of laundry, cleaning, etc. This was the second class I've attended this semester and I think I'm really going to like it. It's interesting and I feel as though I am really learning things that are practical and helpful to my future career.

I will be driving home in the morning and the rest of this week looks to be fairly calm, which is good because I have some things to get done that have been sitting on the to-do list for awhile.

On the Road Again

After the Merry Crashmas of 09, I had to find a new ride. The insurance company was quick to assess the damage and total my car. Not a surprise considering it was 10 years old and had over 100,000 miles on it. I had the car for 7 years though and it was a bit of a downer to have to give it up even though it was time. I started law school with that car (having gotten it in 2002), graduated law school with that car, and got my first legal job with that car. So, there were a lot of memories associated with it. Still, it is always a good thing to make a change once in awhile so a new and different car was needed.

My father, who lives just outside San Antonio and is a very good bargain shopper for everything under the sun, found a 2008 Kia Rio on a lot in San Antonio. I took the Greyhound bus to San Antonion on January 2 to collect the new Frogmobile (Frogmobile II?). I signed the paperwork and drove my new-to-me car off the lot. It's weird, but in a good way, to have a different car especially since I was so used to my old one, but I LOVE IT! I'm back on the road again.

Continuing on that topic, I will start driving to Victoria again for school on Tuesday. My classes are Tuesday evenings, which is going to make for long nights on Tuesdays driving back, but it is worth it. I am very close to finishing this degree. I am taking Techniques of Therapy this semester and then next semester, I will start my practicum (field work) classes. I will take three practicums and also a class on Group Therapy and then I will be done. WOO! Look for me in a cap and gown in Spring 2011! :)

Other than getting back on the road again, which was huge in and of itself, there is nothing earth shattering going on in my life. And that is a good thing. I need a little calm after the year-long storm that was 2009. I have a great feeling about 2010. I started it in a new vehicle and this will be the year I finish almost all my classes with one to be taken in Spring 2011. Yup, it's going to be a great year!
